Dr. Vivian Paul
Dr Vivian Paul received her medical degree from the University of Manitoba. After completing a two-year residency program in Family Medicine at St Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, she became a Certificant of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP). In 2009 she received her fellowship from the College (FCFP) in recognition of her years of experience and service to Family Medicine. She has served as an examiner for the College for over 25 years. During this time, Dr Paul has practised as a full-service Family Physician, first in Langley and then in Vancouver. She was Chief of the Department of Obstetrics in Langley, then Division Head for Family Practice Obstetrics at St Paul’s Hospital from 1998 to 2008. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC, where she teaches Family Medicine residents to pass on skills and competency to the next generation of doctors. Maternity care has always been her strongest interest and passion. Her philosophy is that birth should be a positive experience for families, with delivering mothers and their partners feeling empowered and heard in all decisions around the birth process. When she participates in the birth experience of her patients Dr Paul is still filled with awe at the miracle that birth is, and honoured to share this experience with them.
