Dr. Elizabeth Varughese
Elizabeth Varughese has slowly made her way west from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan after graduating from medical school. This was followed by doing training in internal medicine and anesthesia in Edmonton and then Vancouver. Once she moved to the west coast, the temperate climate and wealth of outdoor activities made her want to stay. She started doing locums and when she did a replacement in White Rock doing full service family practice with obstetrics, her niche was found. She has been doing it ever since in addition to working in the Peace Arch walk in clinic, House Doc program and of course the Peace Arch Maternity Clinic. When walking on the streets of White Rock and South Surrey, her husband thinks she knows everyone because she has seen almost everybody in some capacity somewhere.
When not working, she keeps herself busy cooking, weeding, jogging, biking and spending time with family and friends. But most importantly, she is luck enough o have a husband who travels to exotic places for work. She and their son get to spend this magical family time together following him in his exploits. Her Spanish unfortunately is not improving
“The first time I saw a birth was in rural Saskatchewan. I wanted to yell from the rooftops about how amazing it was. I still do it but now I am going down Russell Ave. Okay, not, but I feel like that inside. It would be an honor to be part of your birth experience.”
